The World Famous Zsolnay Collection of Gyugyi

The 600-piece Zsolnay collection of László Gyugyi will be exhibited in Pécs from September 2010 at Sikorski House located in Zsolnay Cultural Quarter. This magnificent collection spans the Zsolnay Porcelain Manufacture' s heyday, from the 1870s to the 1920s. The vases, pots, lamps, flower-pots, ceramic paintings and painted plaster sculptures are all unique pieces and original products of local handicraft. The most famous innovation of Vilmos Zsolnay, the eosin glaze that renders porcelain to appear iridescent metallic in the shades of green, red, blue and purple, made him and his factory world famous.
